MoveOn, AFSCME hit McCain on Iraq

A new ad targeting John McCain's position on Iraq goes straight for voters' heartstrings. The ad, which is funded by liberal advocacy group MoveOn.org in conjunction with the American Federation of State, County and Municipal Employees, is spare -- it's just a woman holding a child and looking into a camera -- but it's clearly meant to deliver the biggest emotional punch possible.

The woman -- who's supposed to be speaking directly to McCain -- introduces her baby, Alex, and says, "John McCain, when you say you would stay in Iraq for 100 years, were you counting on Alex? Because if you were, you can't have him."

The two groups have reportedly spent more than $500,000 for an ad buy that will last a week and target the key states of Michigan, Ohio and Wisconsin.
