Is Google recession proof?

How does Google do it?

Shrugging off a steadily deteriorating global economy, the search goliath reported a 26 percent increase in profits for the third quarter of 2008. Just as I noted in April fully 51 percent of its paid advertising clicks came from outside the United States.

Recession proof? My kids and I discussed a few weeks ago what luxuries would be the first to go if we decided to trim our monthly budget. Cable television and print newspaper subscriptions were at the top of the list.

But the Internet? Never! My daughter needs her Facebook and MySpace. My son needs his World of Warcraft. And I need my Google.
