"We rely on these news networks to supply context, substance," began Jon Stewart on Tuesday night's "Daily Show," expounding on the importance of cable news, except, haha, no. He was just kidding. "The news networks are there to let you know that whether you look at an issue from the right or from the left ... those are the only two ways you can look at it."
Stewart's favorite performance art piece, CNN, has risen above this rigid reporting framework, however. "CNN has moved beyond this simplistic bipartisan worldview ... to a simplistic-ier one," he said -- one that frames every news story in terms of being a "good thing" or "bad thing."
"The beautiful thing about good/bad," explained Stewart, "is like beige, it goes with everything."
